A web designer not always has the luxury of collecting photography and a playing with grid systems all day. I was reminded of this while working on a screen for a current project.
This screen required an existing form to be integrated into a web application. Now there may not have been 1400 input lines, but the paper form did spread over two pages of legal size paper while using a small font. Yikes.
At first I was excited. The form required the use of tables, which I have not used in detail for quite a while. Unfortunately, the repetition of line after line, set in after the initial table structure was setup. My attitude towards this form was taking a plunge.
After completing a large chunk of the required content, my attitude began to change for the better. I began to realign my thoughts on how to make this form as usable as possible. After all, some employee out there is going to be using this form on a daily basis.

Finally, back to design, and not line after line of copy, paste and edit. After adding a few background image line arrows, adjusting focus colors and line height, this form was becoming something to be proud of.
Case in point…
Get past the repetition and discover how to make usual into something unique.
